Protest Scheduled in Evansville, Indiana for Monday, 12 July [Jul. 12th, 2004|03:05 am]
A rally/protest has been organized to encourage tri-state citizens to call their senators and urge them to oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment*, an amendment to the U.S. Consitution that discriminates against same-sex couples by prohibiting their marriage to each other. The FMA goes to debate in the Senate on Wednesday, July 14th.

The rally is scheduled for Monday, July 12th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm (rush-hour). The location will be in Evansville, IN on Green River Rd. at Eastland Mall, by the Wendy's and the Chili's, across the street from the Family Christian Store. If we are told to move, our second location will be the wide part of the median in the center of the street in between Chili's and the Family Christian Store. Park in the back of the JC Penney parking lot, across from the Wendy's. (For directions, go to www.yahoo.com/maps/dd and enter "Virginia St. and Green River Rd., Evansville, IN" as your destination.)

Please bring a poster you made or an American flag to wave.

Poster Ideas:

Oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment/FMA!

Call Your Senators Now/Today!

Take Action Now/Today!

Protect America's/Our Constitution

Help Stop the FMA/Federal Marriage Amendment!

We will also be handing out fliers with the senators' phone numbers and a link to the Human Rights Campaign's website, as well as pamphlets stating "8 Actions to Help with the Marriage Battle in Indiana."

Lastly, we need people to donate bottles of water. 12- and 24-pack cases are about $3-$5 anywhere you go. It's going to be hot Monday, so we'll get thirsty pretty quickly.

Five rules for this event: 1.) No horseplay; 2.) No obscene or vulgar language or gestures in ANY way shape or form; this includes written, spoken, and unspoken; 3.) Be respectful to EVERYONE, including the media, and especially those in favor of the amendment; 4.) If we are asked to move from private property, we will move to the median in the center of Green River Rd., in between Chili's and the Family Christian Store; 5.) Have FUN and show your PRIDE!

Thanks and hope to see you there!

Moving Home [Jul. 10th, 2004|10:12 pm]

I grew up in Owensboro but haven't lived there in almost 15 years. I'm getting ready to move back there with my daughter next month. Really, you guys do NOT know boring. We've lived in a tiny little town in IL for the last 15 years where you have to drive 40 minutes for any restraunt that's NOT Hardees or Dairy Queen, to go to a real grocery store, and over an hour for a real hospital, doctor, etc..etc...or for ANY mall..*LOL* It may not be Camelot, but we're looking forward to anything being open after 6. ;)

Plus, I'll be glad to be home again where all my family is. So hey...Ya'll say something good about the place before my daughter locks herself in the neighbors basement and refuses to come! Come on...I know you can think of something ......... think........ you can do it! *L*

Wow! [May. 25th, 2004|04:58 pm]

Oh my God I totally freaked out when I found this community!

I don't live in Owensboro, and I've never lived in Owensboro, but my entire family other than myself was born and raised there. My mom went to Catholic High and my dad went to OHS.

I also have tons of cousins, aunts, uncles, and both of my grandmothers in Owensboro. Maybe y'all know some of my cousins?

I even have a Moonlite T-shirt. One thing I've noticed about Owensboro is that teenagers hate it there, and it seems to be stuck in a time warp. Like the women still had 80s heair a few years ago. Am I wrong on this?

Anyway, enough rambling!

I'm your newest member and of course, I've lived in this retarded town for all my life. But lots has changed! Like the new roads and the new stores and the new banks and the new banks and the fast food joints and the new banks and the new restaraunts and the new banks...

Um yeah. Oh! And the tearing down of old restaraunts to make way for the...new restaraunts.

The mall is forever shit though. :)
